Caring for Caryn's Kids 5K/1 Mile Fun Run/Skate...

Olive J. Dodge Elementary School and the friends/family of Caryn Hyatt-Suthoff would like to invite you to be a part of the third annual Caring for Caryn's Kids 5K/Skate/1 Mile Fun Run to be held Saturday, January 8, 2017, at the University of South Alabama Intramural Fields.   The event supports a scholarship fund created in memory of Mrs. Caryn Hyatt-Suthoff, a first-year kindergarten teacher at Dodge Elementary who lost her battle with cancer on December 12, 2014. The total amount we have been able to raise during our first two years is $4,426.00. We will hold this event until 2027, the year Caryn's Kids graduate high school. The Caryn's Kids Scholarship Fund will help us send one or more of her original kindergarteners to college.

Caring for Caryn's Kids 5K/Skate/1 Mile Fun Run will be a family friendly event to kick off Mardi Gras.  Participants will dress up in their favorite Mardi Gras attire and decorate strollers and wagons.  Everyone will receive a Tee shirt with sponsor logos to wear throughout the Mardi Gras season.

Race Day Registration 7:00AM, 5K starts at 8:00AM, Skate and 1 Mile Fun Run Start at 9:15AM

Location: Race start and parking will be available at the South Alabama Intramural Fields.

T-shirts: If registered by January 2, t-shirts are guaranteed on race day Additional t-shirts can be purchased for $15. A no t-shirt option is available for race participants (subtract $3 from registration fee).

Awards: Both male and female agegroup winners for 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd will be given. Most creative and beautiful costumes and wagons awards will also be given to fun run participants.

Categories: Mini-masker- ages 0-18, Mystical Maskers- ages 19-30, Magical Maskers- ages 30-49, Majestic Maskers - ages 50-69, Magnificent Maskers- ages 70+

Post-race Party activities: Cookout, refreshments, music, and awards ceremony. Wear a costume to the fun run and decorate a wagon/stroller. Awards will be given for most creative and beautiful of both. Door prizes will also be given to participants.
