FCC Behavioral Health in Cape Girardeau is having their first annual 5k! 

FCC Behavioral Health's Women and Children's CSTAR (Comprehensive Substance Treatment and Rehabilitation) Program in Cape Girardeau MO provides substance use disorders care to women in a gender responsive manner. Priority is offered to women with substance use disorders who are pregnant, post-partum, or have children in their custody. The program allows women to begin their treatment during pregnancy, deliver their babies while they are in treatment, and return to the program without disruption.  Mothers are able to bring their children to treatment where they can focus on recovery in a safe, supportive, stable environment. The Cape Girardeau Program houses 32 women at any time, and allow for at least a 3 month stay, with potential extensions for long-term care.

This 5k is dedicated to assisting these women and their children with wellness activities at the facility.  The children that come often don't have games and toys, and the proceeds are going to new basketball goals, volleyball goals, and other outdoor equipment for children.  Additionally, the funds for this race will also go towards indoor exercise equipment for the women who live on site.  In recovery, the mind and the body both have to heal, and it is important that the women continue to exercise their bodies while their minds are learning in treatment.
