Description

 _ 2017 Race for a Reason Mud Run, 5K Run, 3K Walk:

Ohio University Sports Administration and Athletes in Action are teaming up with OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital to host the 6th Annual OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital Race for a Reason. Last year, more than 1,100 people participated in one of the four on-campus events, and the race raised upwards of $100,000 for 100+ charities, non-profits, and student organizations. The OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital Race for a Reason is the only event of this kind: combining the competition of racing with the compassion of the Athens community. This year, the race hopes to surpass last year’s totals and raise over $125,000 while hosting over 1,500 participants. Join us in reaching these goals and sign up today!

Course Info

The OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital Race For a Reason offers four distinct events:

Athletes in Action Triathlon & Duathlon presented by the College of Health Sciences and Professions: A short sprint format (Triathlon: 500 meter Swim, 25k Bike, 5k Run: Duathlon 5k-Run, 25k-Bike, 5k-Run) that begins at the Ohio University Aquatic Center for the triathlon and in the transition area for the Duathlon. The bike route takes competitors out of town on a challenging course before returning to campus to complete a 5k run. Finish at the new Walter Field House and enjoy Fitness Fest's post race awards, food, and concert. Participants can choose to race alone, or team up with friends, family, or co-workers and enter as a three-person relay.

36th OU HCOM Medicine Run 5K presented by Quidel: A traditional 5K run that will start adjacent to the triathlon transition area in Parking Lot #133, right in front of the new Walter Field House. This course winds alongside the scenic Ohio University campus before intersecting with the Hocking Adena Bikeway. Competitors will enjoy views of the Hocking River and Ohio University Golf Course before finishing at the new Walter Field House for Fitness Fest. Park in Lot #132 next to Peden Stadium or near the Ohio University Convocation Center.

Mud Run powered by OU ROTC: A 4.5 mile non-traditional run starts in Peden Stadium. Runners will cross the Hocking River over the Richland Avenue Bridge, pass through the Richland Avenue Park, and travel down Diary Barn Lane before heading up to the ROTC Challenge course in the Ridges. Competitors will encounter several obstacles throughout the course before heading down to a slip-n-slide and finishing at the new Walter Field House for Fitness Fest.

AMVETS Diabetes 3K Walk presented by Humana: A traditional 3K walk that will start and finish in Peden Stadium. This out and back course winds along the scenic Hocking Adena Bikeway toward OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital before turning around to finish at the new Walter Field House for Fitness Fest.
