For 48 years and running, the Paavo Nurmi Marathon has been a tradition in the community of Hurley. Volunteers line the course supporting participants with water and gatorade, encouraging each runner as they pass and lining the finish line area with support.
The weekend kicks off with with activities on Friday starting at 3:00 pm with packet pick up and final registration. (NO REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED AFTER 7:00 pm), held annually at the Hurley K-12 School located at 5503 W. Range View Drive, Hurley WI . The American Legion Post hosts a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at that time as well.
The annual Kids Race takes place at the school, 5:30 pm. For those who want to do a warm up run on Friday, consider supporting our local youth at the Torch Run 2 mile, starting and ending at the Torch, 7:00 pm.
The tradition of lighting the torch continues every year as the Hurley High School Cross Country team carries the torch from the start line in Upson to Downtown Hurley. Ceremony starts at 7:30 pm with the runners arriving at approximately 8:15pm.
