On behalf of the Annual On the Road Again 5K Committee and the Staff of New Market Elementary, it is my honor to share with the community that this year and forever more, our 5K event will be called "The Cindy Alvarado On the Road Again 5K!"  12 years ago, our dear friend Cindy Alvarado had a vision to organize and implement a 5K run here at New Market Elementary.  With hard work and dedication, Cindy Alvarado presented our community with what has now become a New Market Elementary School tradition, our Annual On the Road Again 5K.  Cindy's love of education and of fitness, in particular running, were evident every year. Cindy planned and implemented 10 years of successful 5K runs for our community.  Through her efforts and with the support of the community, the Annual On the Road Again 5K has raised funds for fitness, reading, technology, and educational materials for our students. Additionally, this New Market Elementary School tradition has made many generous donations to charitable organizations that support members of our community. This year, we will carry on our 5K tradition and honor Cindy Alvarado by adding her name to this annual event.  The 5K committee has worked closely with Frederick County Public Schools and with Cindy Alvarado's family to make this possible.  We will again work diligently to raise funds to support our New Market Elementary students by using profits from the run to purchase materials of instruction. Additionally, we will use 5K funds to make this year's charitable donation to both Lungevity and to the Patty Polatos Fund, in honor of Cindy and of others in our community bravely battling cancer.  It is our intention to set a  precedent to use funds each year to make New Market Elementary School the best it can be, and to make a yearly donation to a charity that supports our community, in honor of Cindy Alvarado. We are proud to honor Cindy with our annual 5K event! We hope you will join us for "The Cindy Alvarado On the Road Again 5K " on Saturday, April 30th!

NEW THIS YEAR!!!! Performance T-Shirts!  Grade Level winners for elementary youth, as well as middle school and high school winners! Fun new race categories, including a Stroller Race!

Awards to Top 2 Elementary male/female finishers in the 1 Mile run, Top 2 Age.
 
Group finishers for those 18 & over in the 5K & medals awarded to all participants.

FREE food provided with water at the finish line.
