Mutts on the Mountain at Blue Mountain

Benefiting the Westchester Parks Foundation (thewpf.org), the 2nd Annual Mutts on the Mountain 5K and Lazy Dog 1M Fun Run is back for more tail-wagging, trail-running fun! Our event is the only timed trail race (of any length) in the Tri-State area that allows you to run with your canine companion.  We've updated our 5K and 1M routes and trail markers this year to make them clear and friendly to runners of all experience levels! This is a not-to-be-missed event for hikers, joggers, runners, and of course your well-behaved four legged friend.  All registrants get a dri-fit custom Mutts on the Mountain t-shirt and all canine participants get a custom Mutts on the Mountain bandanna.

Funds raised support Westchester Parks Foundation's mission to engage the public to advocate for and invest in the preservation, conservation, use and enjoyment of the 18,000 acres of parks, trails, and open space within the Westchester County Parks system. Check In Time:  8am-9am

5K Trail Race:  

• 5K Runners without Dogs start at 9:15am
  
• 5K Runners with Canine Companions start at 9:20am
  

Lazy Dog Fun Run:  

• 1 Mile Runners/Walkers start at 9:30am
  

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

The Mutts on the Mountain 5K course is located deep in the beautiful Blue Mountain Reservation in Peekskill, NY.  Consisting of 3.1 miles of top-notch trail, this course will keep trail runners on their toes and keep those running with their canine companion focused on the what waits around the bend.  You’ll find an aid station (water for human and canine participants) 1.6 miles into the course.  We strongly encourage human participants who don’t have a canine companion to participate in this course (we will have three waves, the first being for dog-less participants).

The Lazy Dog Fun Run is a 1-mile romp for humans and dogs of all ability levels. This course is perfect for small dogs and older dogs who want to participate in a race, but can’t handle the ruff terrain that the 5K course offers.  You’ll be able to explore a portion of Blue Mountain’s extensive trail system while taking in constant views of the lake.  This race option is for human participants with canine companions only due to course width constraints.

Mutts on the Mountain is held rain or shine! No refunds.

FOR RUNNERS AND SPECTATORS:  CHECK OUT THE VILLAGE AT MUTTS

The Village at Mutts, nearby the Start and Finish line, will feature: a doggie exercise area, food and drinks to purchase for humans and canines, and great vendors! The village will be up and running at 8am.

PARKING:

There will be signage and parkers guiding you in the parking areas.  Please park in the spot or area that they assign.

RESTROOMS:

For human participants, there are restrooms located in the bathhouse.  For canine participants, there will be a doggie exercise area located close to the Start/Finish line.

WAIVER:

All participants will receive a waiver prior to race day, and can sign or bring their pre-signed waiver when they arrive to check in, to be turned in when they pick up their packets.

WHAT TO BRING:

If you have a canine companion, you must bring a secured collar or harness and a six foot leash. 

Please bring an ID for registration.

We recommend you wear trail runners or hiking boots due to the course terrain.
