Academy Street Strut...

• 1 Mile Strut:- Run 1 Mile

Sanctioned by USA Track & Field

Ladies unite for the inaugural Academy Street Strut, a celebration of women, fitness, and supporting our local nonprofits that serve area women, men, children, and families. You can strut your stuff the whole mile by your self or relay team. (Double Strut!) 

Here are the Academy Street Strut rules:

• You must follow the rules of the road
• Walk on the side walk, facing traffic
• Use cross-walks and cross with the light
• Must wear business attire (business suit or dress with a jacket)
• Must wear running shoes (they do not need to match your purse & outfit!)
• Must carry your heels 
• Must carry a brief case or purse (you may barrow one) 
• Jewelry is optional 

Following the 1 mile strut there will be a party at the Cary Chamber of Commerce with a variety of beverages! Invite your friends, co-workers, mother, sister, daughter - everyone really! - to come strut their stuff with you!

A portion of the proceeds raised by the Academy Street Strut will go to support area non-profits as selected by the members of the Cary Women's Giving Network.

Information

Race Location: Downtown Cary by the Cary Chamber on N. Academy St. 

Course Information: The course starts and finishes at the Cary Chamber of Commerce, crosses Academy St. to Cary Town Hall, and heads towards the Cary Art Center on the sidewalks and then back to the Chamber. There will be a checkpoint at the Cary Art Center where the Strut Relays handoff. Restrooms are located at the Chamber. Academy Street Strut Map

Relay teams are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Cary Art Center. We recommend the second leg person drives to the Cary Art Center and hands the keys off to the starting strutter to drive back to the Chamber. 

Parking: Parking is available at the Cary Chamber of Commerce and the Herb Young Community Center parking garage. 

Events: Everyone is welcome to participate!  All participants will have chip-timed results that will be posted online.  All Fit & Able Productions, Inc. events are inclusion events: anyone of any age, skill-level, or ability can participate in any race! At-home moms can strut too and may push children 2 & Under in strollers but must be registered and numbered in order to participate. 

Water Stations: There will be a water station at the Cary Art Center and the finish line. Water is also available at the registration and refreshment area. 

Packet Pick-up: All participants must show a photo ID or be with a guardian with a photo ID in order to pick up their race packets and can only pick up their own race packet. Parents may pick up packets for their children but not for their spouses.

Race Souvenirs: Academy Street Strut shirts are available for $20 (while supplies last!). 

Registration

Online registration closes on April 23rd at 9 PM.  Cash and checks are accepted at packet pick-up and race day.

Strut:

• Until April 1st: $20
• Until April 23rd: $25
• On Race Day April 24th: $30

Strut Relay: Max 2 people

• Until April 1st: $20 per person
• Until April 23rd: $25
• On Race Day April 24th: $30

Kid Strutters (17 & Under):

• Until April 1st: $10
• Until April 23rd: $15
• On Race Day April 24th: $20

Kids in Stroller (3 & Under): $5

NOTE: NO REFUNDS, TRANSFERS, or EXCHANGES.

The Academy Street Strut and all its participants are subject to these event policies. 

Fit & Able Productions is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting community and family fitness in Cary since 1997 through organizing creative events and training programs.  We also support many programs, such as swim safety lessons for underprivileged children and adults, youth fitness programs, and health education run by our community partners including the Cary Family YMCA, Triangle Aquatic Center, and Town of Cary.  Proceeds from our events that aren't designated to support other organizations go to support the event and other Fit & Able nonprofit activities.
