May is Asthma Awareness Month. Valdosta Alumnae Chapter (VAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is working to increase public awareness of the asthma epidemic. Asthma affects more than 25 million people of all ages and races. Although asthma is widespread, public awareness of common asthma triggers and effective asthma management strategies remains limited.
On May 13, 2017, VAC will host our 3rd Annual Breathe Easy 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run for Asthma Awareness at Valdosta State University Recreation Center to increase awareness of the asthma epidemic and provide a health exposition with health screenings to the community.
Proceeds from this race will benefit the Valdosta Children's Medical Research Fund, for asthma awareness clinics and treatment and scholarships.
