What is Legacy 5K?
Legacy 5K is an annual run/walk for the Fight Against Obesity.
Today, two-thirds of U.S. adults and nearly one in three children struggle because they are overweight or have obesity. The effects of the nation’s obesity epidemic are immense: taxpayers, businesses, communities and individuals spend hundreds of billions of dollars each year due to obesity, including nearly $200 billion in medical costs. Obesity is the reason that the current generation of youth is predicted to live a shorter life than their parents.
Much can be done to reverse the epidemic, yet important opportunities to tackle obesity -- including changes that enable more Americans to eat healthy and be active, as well as those that provide fitness and wellness programs and services -- have gone largely unseen. The Legacy Alumni Association wants to assist in filling this gap.
The Legacy Alumni Association consist of past Boys & Girls Club of Jackson County members. The association has established an executive board of ten committee members to perform duties such as educate the community on the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs, recruit past members, mentor leadership, community projects, coordinate fundraisers and special events, and reach out to potential sponsors to assist with the association’s mission.
The Alumni Association has been established to provide funding for Boys & Girls Club of Jackson County members seeking scholarships for higher education. The need for such funding is recognized, given the growth of the local community and increase of tuition at all college levels.
All proceeds go toward scholarships for Boys & Girls Club of Jackson County.

The event will be located at Pascagoula Beach Park at
600 City Park St, Pascagoula, MS 39567.

The Legacy Alumni Association is proud to host its 1st annual Legacy "Fight Against Obesity" 5K race. The purpose of this event is to increase obesity awareness in Mississippi and to promote physical activity in the community. The event is slated to take place the Pascagoula Beach Park.
Online Registration Ends May 19th, 2017 at 5:00pm
Registration at the Pascagoula Beach Park until Race Day at 7:30am

Race Day Registration & Packet Pick up: 6:30am- 7:30am
