Description

New for 2017:  The 300 meter dash will be a free event for all toddlers.  Each finisher will recieve a goodie bag.  There will be no toddler T-shirt sizes.  The smallest shirt size will be an adult xs.  

Early Registration is highly reccommended.  Limited supply of T-shirts and sizes.  T-shirt size is not guarateed.  Registraion on Friday prior to event and race day morning with no T-shirt for $15.

JIM THORPE 5K Run:

All participants will be entered into the Jim Thorpe 5K Run.  Awards will be given to the top 5 in each age division;

 

**Overall Male and Female Winners**

14-Under – 15-19 - 20-29 – 30-39 - 40-49

50-59 - 60-69 - 70-79 - 80-up

 

USATF New Mexico 5K State Championships and Grand Prix Series:


This event will also serve as the USATF New Mexico Association 5K road state championships and is a part of the USATF NM Association 2017 Grand Prix racing series.  To be eligible; You must have a 2017 NEW MEXICO Association membership at the start of the 5K run. USATF members will be eligible for additional awards in the following age groups.

 

(Top 3) 14 & under -15-19 – 20-24 – 25-29 -30-34 – 35-39 - 40-44 – 45-49 - 50-54 – 55-59     60-64 – 65-69 – 70-74 - 75-79 – 80-84 – 85-89 – 90 & up

 

NATIVE AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP:

This event will still serve as the Native American 5K National Championship.  However, you will no longer be seperated by divisions on the entry form. All registrants will be racing againt each other in the Jim Thorpe 5K run. 

Eligible Native American participants will be provided with Native American Championship Awards.  These awards may or may not be given on event day.  However, all awards will be mailed to those that qualify.  Requirements are; to be an enrolled member of a tribe.  Verification is not required with your registration, however if requested, you must be able to provide documention of enrollment.  If you do not indicate your are eligible on your registration, you will not be included in the Native American Championship awards, no exceptions.  Top 3 will recieve awards in the following age divisions:


14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39,

40-49, 50-59, 60 & UP

Kids 1K will recieve medals to the top 3 male and female finishers of the following age groups; 8 & Under, 9-10, & 11-12.

Registration closes for all events at 7:30 am on race day.

Fitness Walks                    7:30 a.m.

5K Run                              8:00 a.m.

1K Youth Run                    9:00 a.m.

Toddler 300 meter dash    9:10 a.m.

Honoring of Individuals      9:15 a.m.

Awards                           9:45 a.m.

Traditional Pueblo Throw 10:30 a.m.

COURSE INFORMATION:

The course is two, 1 1/2 mile loops, on paved ashphalt.  The course is considered one of the flatest and fastest courses at 5,000 ft altitude, with a total elevation change of 13 feet for the entire race. 

ARRIVAL INFORMATION:

If you need to register or pick up your packet(s) you will need to park and go to the upper level of the SIPI Gymnasium. 

Closest/best parking is in the SIPI Administration parking lot very close to the start, finish, registration and packet pick up.  However, early arrival is encouraged as there is limited parking in that area. Additional and overflow parking will be at the SIPI Sciene and Technology buildinig or near the dorms.  These parking areas will add 5-10 minutes to your arrival at packet pick up, restrooms, and starting line.

ARRIVE EARLY:

Fifthteen (15) minutes prior start of the 5K run, traffic will be re-routed to the north entry gate to the SIPI campus.  This will add 10 minutes to getting to the race start line.  Once the race begins this will be a closed course, therfore your arrival early to the event is highly encouraged even if your coming for the later events.

Please allow plenty of time for parking and packet pick up.  Please note, registration closes 30 minutes prior to each race, NO EXCEPTIONS.  Early Registration is also encouraged.
