Join us on the 4th of July for the first Fetterman 5K trail run. There is also a 1K fun run option available. This is a trail run. The terrain is a combination of dirt roads, deer trails, and gravel paths. The trail runs around Historic Fort Fetterman and is a wonderful way to explore this historic Wyoming location. After the race enjoy a pancake breakfast and the events of Fort Fetterman Days.

*Monday July 3, 2017 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at The Body Shop

*Tuesday July 4, 2017 from 6:00AM -6:30AM at Fort Fetterman

July 4, 2017: All events start on the parade grounds of Fort Fetterman

6:00AM – 6:30AM Packet Pickup and day of race registration

7:00AM 5K race start

8:00AM Free pancake breakfast starts

8:15AM Flag raising ceremony

8:30AM 1K Fun Run starts

Course Info:

The 5K course is a trail run that consists of dirt roads, deer trails, and gravel paths. The terrain includes uneven ground, hills, and open prairie.

The course will start on the parade grounds and head uphill to the old cemetery. From there it will loop downhill to the Platte river and then head uphill again to the gazebo before running through the fort remains, looping back up to the cemetery and around to the finish line on the parade grounds.

Due to the nature of the area this is a cup free event, which means we will have a water station, but will not provide cups on the course.

The 1K course will start on the parade grounds, run out to the gazebo and circle back around to the finish line on the parade grounds.

Arrival/Parking Info:

Fort Fetterman in located at 752 Wyoming Hwy 93. Just outside of Douglas, WY

Parking is free the day of the event. Please park in the approved parking areas.

The start/finish lines are located on the parade grounds

Event info/packet pickup/day of race registration will be on the parade grounds near the starting line.

To make the morning of the event less crowded please consider registering early and picking up your packet at the packet pickup event on July 3, 2017.

What to bring/What to wear:

Please dress appropriately for the forecasted weather conditions.

Please wear appropriate footwear. The terrain is uneven.

Please bring your own water bottle (we will have water available to fill it up) HINT: there will be a water bottle in your swag bags.

Event Rules:

No paper or plastic cups on the trail. No litter at all please.

No refunds or exchanges

No strollers or dogs on the course

Be courteous to your fellow runners, volunteers, and race personnel

Be respectful of the historic buildings, foundations, and artifacts

Misc Details:

This race is a fundraiser for The Friends of Fort Fetterman.

Fort Fetterman Days is happening in conjunction with this event. It is free to the public and includes food, historical information, activities, games, demonstrations, and vendors.

All activity levels are welcome.

You are welcome to run or walk the 5K trail run. It is a fun run not a competitive race.

The 1K fun run is for kids of any age.

Medals, T-Shirts, and swag bags are guaranteed for all 5K registrations before June 5, 2017. After June 5, 2017 medals, T-Shirts, and swag bags will be available on a “first come” basis until we run out.

1K participants receive a medal but no T-Shirt or swag bag.
