The 4th Annual Jackson County 4-H Clover Chase!  We will be celebrating 4-H, the 4-H Clubs of Jackson County and health and fitness.  Please come join us for the event which will have something for the whole family.  Please see the about page for all the information you need to participate and register.

We have decided to make the Clover Chase themed this year.  This year's theme is SUPER HEROES.  Come dressed as your favorite super hero.  We hope to see every all decked out in their favorite costume!  :)

This fundraising event will benefit all participating Jackson County 4-H Clubs.

The running events will take place at Lincoln Elementary School in Merrillan.

 

Start & Finish Location

Course

The course will go out of the school area down Hwy. 95, turning right after you pass the Jackson County Bank.  You will follow that until you hit a Y at the end of town where you will take a left onto Hardwood Road.  You will follow Hardwood Road until you meet Hwy. 12/27.  Take a right onto 12/17.  You will follow 12/27 to Dunlap Road.  Take a left onto Dunlap.  Take Dunlap until you reach Cty. Rd. F.  Follow Cty. Rd. F until you see the Neon Clover.  Turn around and take a right onto Sand Road.  You will follow Sand Road until you come into town on Green Road.  You will take a left back onto Hwy. 12/27 and follow it back to Hardwood Road and follow Hardwood back into town to the school.  There will be mile markers along the way.  The course will close at 11 a.m.

Prices for the races are as follows:
Half Marathon - $50
5K race - $25
1.5 mile fun run/walk - $20
Kids 1/2 mile race - $12


EARLY BIRD PRICING:
Half Marathon - February 10 - June 19 - $40 (after June 19 it will be $50)
5K - March 22 - February 10 - June 19 -  $20 (after June 19 it will be $25)


Age Groups:  5K and Half Marathon:  12 & Under; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+

Kids race age groups:  0-5; 6-9; 10-12

Awards Ceremony
The award ceremony will begin at 10:00.  This will allow all of the events to have been done and people time to grab some replenishment and to relax a little while before the ceremony.

Additional Information (from the timers)
Your bib needs to be on the front of your outermost layer of clothing so we can see it as they are coming up to the finish line.  The timing tags will need to be worn with one on each shoe, so they hang off the outside of either shoe.  There will be an example to place at the registration table.   Also, the timing tags need to be returned into the bin after you are done with the race.  There will be volunteers that will be helping with the collection of the timing tags.

Water Stations

There will be water stations located every 2 miles on the side of the road along the Half Marathon/5K course (generously attended to by local 4-H Clubs)

 

What about strollers?

Strollers will ONLY be allowed in the 1.5 mile fun run/walk.




Are dogs allowed in the races?

NO animals of any kind will be allowed in any of the races.



Why participate?

In the spirit of celebrating Jackson County, 4-H, family and fitness we are once again hosting the Clover Chase.  This will be a great event for the whole family.  We are not only celebrating fitness, but also 4-H, which is the nation’s largest youth development and empowerment organization, reaching more than 7 million 4-H youth in urban neighborhoods, suburban schoolyards and rural farming communities. Fueled by university-backed curriculum, 4-H'ers engage in hands-on learning activities in the areas of science, healthy living, and food security.

 

ALL Half Marathoners will receive a finisher's medal.  The top 3 male and female finishers in each age group for the Half Marathon and 5K races will receive a medal and all of the kids in the kids race will receive a ribbon as well as the top 3 finishers in each age group will receive a medal. All participants will receive a t-shirt with their registration.  The t-shirts are moisture wicking shirts.

Timing

Only the Half Marathon and 5K races will be timed.  They will be chip timed.

 

Parking

There will be ample parking at the school and nearby in town.

 

Race Day Schedule

Please try to arrive at least 30 minutes before your race so you can get registered.  We will have registration Friday night from 4-7 p.m. at the school as well so you can pick up your bib and bag.

 

Racing times are:

Half Marathon - 7:00 a.m.

5K - 8:00 a.m.

1.5 mile fun run/walk - 8:05 a.m.

1/2 mile kids race - 9:00 a.m.
