Description

On April 21st, join the Des Moines Park and Recreation Department for the 2018 Mayor's annual Ride and Run for Trails. RAGBRAI, Bike World, and The Des Moines Register, will continue as co-sponsors of the event, and Mayor T. M. Franklin Cownie will lead the ride assisted by The Register's own Dream Team. In addition to the ride, the Park and Recreation Department will once again offer a 5k run to the day's events.

The approximately 23 mile ride starts at the Richard A. Clark Municipal Services Center, 1551 E. Martin Luther King Parkway at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 and will travel through many area neighborhoods before ending at the Hub Spot. Registration fees are: $30.00 per adult before April 20 and $40.00 on site the day of the event. Children's fees are $5 for those ages 5 through 18 years, and children 4 and younger are free. Registration fees include breakfast at Richard A. Clark Municipal Services Center from 8:00am-10:00am, refreshments at the rest stop, sag support and a repair van.

The 5k run will also start at the Richard A. Clark Municipal Services Center and the route will consist of downtown trails. Registration fees are: $30.00 per adult before April 20 and $40.00 on site the day of the event. Children's fees are $5 for those ages 5 through 18 years, and children 4 and younger are free. The run will begin at 9am, allowing time to enter both the ride and the run for an additional $5. Event shirts will be guaranteed to all participants that register prior to April 1st.

T-shirts/packets can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation office located at 1551 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 16th through Thursday, April 19. No guarantee on t-shirts or meal if registered after March 30th.
