Description

_ The 2018 Run for Hope:

100% of the proceeds to this event will benefit The HOPE Community Center in Adrian, MI.  This is an organization that gives social opportunities to disabled individuals within the community who would otherwise not have these resources available to them.  The event is being presented by Transcend Physical Therapy and elem3nt church, both of which are located in beautiful Blissfield, MI which is home to many small shops and diners to explore following the event.  All are welcome and may bring children or dogs to participate in the run/walk.  Children under 10 may be registered if a t-shirt is desired for them, otherwise they will be able to participate free of charge.  A charity run is a wondeful way to show support for the community, start your day with good company, and meet great people!

Hope Community Center is:

  • Is a perfect place for transitioning students from school life to the “real world”.
  • Offers structured programming that ends the isolation of people with intellectual disabilities in areas of education, socialization, recreation, and volunteering.
  • Is a strong hub and support for the local disability population and their caretakers.
  • Serves as a bridge to the community for people with intellectual disabilities.
  • Has an active PTO group that assists the program staff with delivering dynamic programs with integrity, compassion, and safety.
  • Is a safe place for people with disabilities to practice their independence.
  • Is a safe place for people with disabilities in finding purpose and meaning in their lives.
  • Is the most fun-loving, spirited place in Lenawee County that emphasizes the gifts and abilities of people who have disabilities.
  • Is run by local people with huge hearts who live to change lives.
  • Is an unusual resource that most counties do not have, and it’s right here in Lenawee County!
  • Has an accepting environment that HOPE calls a culture of sharing and caring.
  • Partners with many organizations including Siena Heights University, Adrian College, Michigan State Extension, LISD, Civitan, Kiwanis, and much more.
  • Is not government funded and therefore does not have “strings attached”.
  • Is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm with occasional night and weekend activities.

Event details and schedule

The event will begin at the elem3nt church (220 E. Jefferson St.) at 10am.  Registration will be available the day of the event from 8:30am to 9:45am prior to the race at the church.  Parking will be available at the church lot and at the church across the street also.  The course is mostly flat, as is all of blissfield, and will be the same course as the hospice run the following weekend.  Dress accordingly for the weather as the event will take place rain or shine :-).  Following the event there will be refreshments and fellowship/socializing at the church.  Those with strollers and/or dogs will start the race with the walkers, behind the runners.  There will be a water station mid-course with HOPE Community Center members assisting with many aspects of the event.
