_ The 2018 The Gambler:

Traxx is hosting its first annual running event called The Gambler. This is not your standard race. Rather than focusing on a certain distance and runner’s times, The Gambler is all about the loot (prizes) and, of course, THE GAMBLE. 
 

Here’s how it works:
The course is 1/2 mile, with the start and finish in the same location, and participants of all paces run or walk the loop as many times as they please within 1 HOUR. Each time you pass the starting line again you will receive a digital “gambling chip”. The more chips you get the better!

With a set race time of 1 HOUR, you begin the course at the sound of the gun.

At any and all paces, runners continue on the 0.5 mile looped course until they reach THE GAMBLE.

The gamble takes you through a shorter course which could land you quickly back at the start; however, the shorter course doesn’t come without it’s consequences! If you choose to take the gamble you will be faced with a daunting task that could be anything from forehead baseball bat spinning to eating doughnuts to a dozen burpees. This task, whatever it may be, is meant to aid you! But if you fail, you must turn back and take the long way around.

At this point you can choose to take the gamble, with the possibility of gaining time OR losing time, or you can choose the safe but much longer path.

The Course: Which will you choose?
The loop course will begin at the corner of Franklin and Willow St downtown Mount Airy, NC. You will be faced with the choice of taking the long way around or THE GAMBLE. To view the course maps click Courses & Maps at the top right of the page.  

What are the gambling chips for?
Each time you pass the starting line within the 1 hour time frame, you receive a digital gambling chip, which is recorded by your race bib. The more chips you gain the better chance you have of looting prizes. And these are BIG PRIZES of $100 value or more.

The object of the race is to pass the starting line as many times as possible during the 1 hour time frame. Whether you want to gamble on a short cut, that’s up to you!

Prizes:
After the completion of the race, prizes will be awarded at random based on the two age groups. Participants are entered into a random selection generator; each time they pass the starting line, their name is added again, then again, etc.

Younguns 14 and under - (12/7-4/28 EARLY) 20.00, (4/29-5/5 STANDARD) 25.00
Buckaroos 15 and over - (EARLY) 30.00, (STANDARD) 35.00
