_ The 2018 4th Annual Chasing Jefferson Davis Marathon and Half Marathon:
Join us Saturday, May 5th for the Chasing Jefferson Davis Marathon and Half Marathon. The point to point courses will be run on paved and dirt roads. The Full Marathon starts at 300 College St, Abbeville, GA and the Half Marathon starts at 1018 Salem Church Rd, Fitzgerald, GA. Both will end at the Jefferson Davis Memorial Historic Site, 338 Jeff Davis Park Rd., Fitzgerald, GA. Registration begins at 5:00 AM and the race will start with a cannon blast at 6:00 AM at each location.
Event details and schedule
Early Packet Pickup and Registration: Will be Friday night 5/4/18 beginning at 6PM to 8PM at 300 College Street, Abbeville GA.
Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup: Begins at 5AM at each location.
Marathon: Starts at 6AM
Half Marathon: Starts at 6:30AM
Awards: Everyone who finishes the race will be given a race memorial. Awards will be given to the Overall Male and Female, Masters Male and Female. Age Group awards will be 3 deep beginning with 19 and under to 75 and Over.
Shirts and Goodies: The race is a point to point and runs through the counties of Wilcox, Ben Hill and Irwin. Parking will be available at the start and finish. Shuttle buses will begin running 3 hours after the start of the races for the return trip to the starting point for anyone that needs to leave a vehicle. Buses will cease at 2:00 PM. The Marathon is USATF Certified #GA15012WC. Timing and Results: Finish line management and results provided by Classic Race Services with results posted to www.classicraceservices.com, www.active.com, www.coolrunning.com and www.runningintheusa.com. You must be finished by Noon!
Course: Both events are point to point. There are some portions that are not paved. The Marathon is USATF Certified #GA15012WC.
Series Affiliation: The race is part of the 2018 Black Bag Race Series. Runners will receive DOUBLE Black Bag Points for the Full Marathon.
Parking and Busses: There will be parking at the start and finish . Shuttle busses will begin running from the finish area 3 hours after the start of the race and the last bus will leave the finish area at 2:00PM
Other Info: In case of rain, the races will go on. Delay of the start may happen in case of severe weather in the area at race time. If severe weather continues, then the race director or local authorities may make the call to cancel the race at that time. Sorry, no refunds.
