_ The 2018 4th Annual Step It Up 5k for Autism Speaks:

Autism Speaks is the largest Autism science and advocacy organization, they are dedicated to funding research for the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for Autism, as well as increasing awareness of Autism and advocating for the needs of individuals with Autism and their families. The expenses of a child diagnosed with Autism can cost a family over $60,000 a year on average; Alpha Xi Delta’s goal is to help these families overcome obstacles they never thought would be possible.

Since partnering nationally with Autism Speaks in 2009, Alpha Xi Delta has raised over $5 million and counting towards research and awareness for children on the Autism Spectrum. Our chapter has held five Football FrenXI events, six Quarter Miles, one Jail N’ Bail event, three Step It Up 5K’s and helped Autism Speaks University’s fundraisers on campus raising over $50,000.

The month of April is Autism awareness month and Delta Nu could use your support to “Light it Up Blue” throughout Indiana, Pa. We are holding our fourth annual, “Step It Up 5K”, at Blue Spruce Park on April 21 where members of the community and students from IUP will be running side by side to raise money towards Autism Speaks. We are also holding our annual Quarter Mile on Philadelphia Street where donations can be made before or on the date of the event. We will have quarters laid out along the street and are hoping to meet our goal of $1,000.
