_ The 2018 Bunn Fun Run:

“A Blessing, Inc.” Soup Kitchen
This race benefits "A Blessing, Inc." soup kitchen. The soup kitchen is just that...A Blessing!!! Both to the community that serves and the community that receives these services. Established in 2009, the doors of the soup kitchen were opened by the efforts of many and many hands continue to support the effort to feed the need that exists within the community of Bunn itself. From the BUNCO club in Lake Royale to the many area churches, the effort to provide a warm meal every Thursday during the day has become A BLESSING for all!
For more information concerning “A Blessing” Inc, please go to www.ablessinginc.org.

Every Thursday volunteers from within the community prepare a hot meal to feed anyone who is hungry. Everybody is invited! Everyone gets hungry! and everyone is invited to come and eat! Donations are encouraged from all recipients.

The Bunn Fun Run has been established to raise the awareness of the NEED within the Bunn community and to raise needed funds to support this effort Here are some expenses not generally considered: rent, paper products(plates, napkins, cups, forks/spoons, drinks, coffee, trash bags and specific ingredients for meals). Each week it costs $300 to provide this service. An average of 68 individuals receive a meal at the hands of the soup kitchen each week.

This problem is bigger than a weekly effort to feed a relatively few. This effort does not even address the root cause of this community need. But doing what we can do is not only important but necessary in our efforts to follow the Savior Jesus Christ as he went about “doing good”(to read more concerning the life of our Savior go to “The Living Christ” document: file:///C:/Users/admin/Downloads/2017-05-20-the-living-christ-eng.pdf).

Teaching our children to do the same by example is probably the greatest motivation that our community has to act in this cause of addressing community need! In an effort to encourage our children to participate in addressing this community need, we also make the FUN RUN a CANNED FOOD DRIVE!!
We are working hand in hand with Bunn Elementary School and the broader network of the Franklin County School system to encourage our children to become aware of others’ needs, even classmates that they sit beside. Each child is prompted to participate in the food collection efforts. The race registration is equal to 20 cans of food per child. The school will prompt the children to collect food items by placing collection bins with signage in visible locations throughout the school. To register a child that has collected 20 cans, please text the Race Director at (919)810-9079 the child’s name/date of birth/school and email address so that the race registration may be submitted.

Bunn is a bedroom community of Raleigh north of Zebulon and east of Wake Forest. Bunn is readily accessible from NC Highways 39 and 98.
