_ The 2018 Xterra Trail Run Series - Shepaug:

Join us at the XTERRA Shepaug Run-Raiser in lovely Bridgewater, CT as part of the  XTERRA Northeast Trail Run Series.

The Paul Mitchell XTERRA Trail Run Series is a collaborative effort to spread the word about trail running and to produce the most recognizable, enjoyable, root slipping, mud sloshing, tree ducking, river crossing, hill climbing, dirt on your shirt, sweat in your eye trail runs on the planet!

There are four distances to choose from:

10K, 25K, 50K and 50 Miler (80K)

Course: The course will include majestic trails thru Bridgewater and Roxbury’s back country with just enough road running (for the 25K, 50K and 50 Milers – just a road crossing for the 10K) to keep things interesting.  The trails do range from old railroad beds and roads to sections of watch your ankles.

10K:   The course starts over grass, gravel, and a paved walking path before diving into the woods.  Here you will find dirt, water, rocks, roots, fields, mud and/or ice (it is March).  When you reach the turn around you are 60% of the way done, but have done 80% of the hard work.  The course is marked ad nauseam so you can keep on truckin’.  This distance was enjoyed (and finished) by all level of competitors last year.  Elevation gain is a gentle 634′.  No Aid Station so come equipped with water bottles or hydration pack.

25K:   2000′ of elevation gain over the 25.1K course.  This is the full loop.  Start off on the 10K but continue on to the road section of the course.  1.2 miles down the hill to reach the pristine trails of the Roxbury Land Trust.  Peace and tranquility are abundant in these woods.  You will travel over the bridge to the Roxbury pond (Aid Station/Portalet) and loop back on some different trails.  After running back up the hill on the road you will regain and finish the 10K course.  1 Aid Station at 8.5 miles.

50K:  This is 2 full loops on the 25K course.  First Aid Station is at 8.5 miles.  Second station is at the end of your first lap, 25.1K.  You will have access to our goodies as well as your own vehicles at this point.  8.5 miles back to the pond to revisit the remote Aid Station. Total elevation gain is 4000′.

50 Miler:  (well its under 51 miles, so close enough)  Runners will do 3 full laps of the course with a flat addition around the area of the Aid Station to make up the needed distance.  See 50K for details on Aid Station distances.  You will start your race at the same time as the 50K runners and follow the same course as them for the full 50K.  Elevation gain is 5600′. If at anytime you want to downgrade to the 50K, we will clock your time for that distance.  No harm, no foul, no refund.

Aid Stations:   The remote station is situated 8.5 miles in on the loop (not visited by the 10K).  It will be stocked with water, Power Bars, Gatorade, other race snacks, and a portalet.  The other station is the start/finish line.  It will be stocked as well, access to bathrooms, and access to your vehicle for personal goodies.

Drop Bags:  There is no need, as you have access to your car each lap.  Otherwise, backpack.

Elevation gains are about 2000′ for the 25K, 4000′ for the 50K, about 5600′ for the 50 miler, and about 650′ for the 10K.

Trails will be marked with tape and directional signage. You will be responsible for following the course.
