'a run for Hope' is a 5K race/1 mile walk which generates funds to support Annie's Hope, a community-based not for profit. The event is coordinated by volunteers and managed by Big River Running. The run/walk takes place at Route 66 State Park where families are encouraged to take advantage of free services such as health screenings, interaction with therapy dogs, nutritious snacks, and obtain child ID cards. Refreshments are offered.
Annie's Hope provides 10 free support programs for children and teens in our community who are grieving the deaths of loved ones. It costs more than $750,000 annually to serve the 3,600+ sad, hurting kids who desperately need a place a place to turn when their mom, dad, brother, sister, best friend or special person dies. Annie's Hope relies on support from the community to serve local kids as we do not receive any government grants or fees or United Way funding. We are the only organization that is solely focused on the needs of grieving children.
