The 2nd Annual Dunes 100 is where your limits will be tested throughout the challenging and beautiful Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Jupiter, Fl
The name Dunes 100 is Inspired by the beautiful scrubs that have endless rolling white sugar sand. This course will take you on a journey from Pine Flatwoods to the scrubs where you will go face to face with the infamous “Dunes of Heaven” and Dunes of Hell”.
The first 5 miles you will go through pine flat woods with hard packed dirt some roots and sand. You will cross 2 wooden bridges – Kitching Creek South and North. You will then run 2 miles through wetland prairie with another bridge crossing and you arrive into an imperial eco-system scrubs. Here you will go 7 miles through white beautiful sand dunes. Encounter the famous Dunes of Heaven and Dunes of Hell as you have views of the beautiful intercoastal.
Located just south of Stuart, Florida, this park teems with wildlife in 13 natural communities, including sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, mangroves, river swamp and the Indian River. The Loxahatchee River, Florida’s first federally designated Wild and Scenic River, runs through the park.
Jupiter is rich in history: the earliest known records of the Jupiter Inlet date as far back as 1565. Jupiter’s most identifiable landmark, Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, was erected in the 1800s. The stately red brick lighthouse continues to stand, ranging 105 feet into the sky, atop a 46-foot hill on the north shore of the Jupiter Inlet. Stretching to the Atlantic Ocean, Jupiter features a delightful tropical climate and truly that “small town” appeal with big city benefits.
