Running 4 Our Angels 5K Run/Walk in Remembrance

     The Lawzie Marigold Foundation was founded in April 2016 as a Not For Profit Organization in honor of our daughter Lauren Rae Baruch.  On the morning of July 18th, 2015, eight young ladies, Lauren Baruch, Stephanie Belli, Brittney Schulman, Amy Grabina, Olga Lipets, Alicia Arundel, Joelle DiMonte and Melissa Crai, hired a limousine to spend a fun filled day on the North Fork of Long Island for wine tasting.  As you know or may not know, only four young ladies made it home; Lauren, Amy, Brittney and Stephanie did not.  They were taken from us in a horrific limousine crash in Cutchogue, Long Island.  

      Each of the four families has chosen to honor their daughter by giving yearly scholarships to worthy students. The Lawzie Marigold Foundation, the Amy Rose Grabina Foundation, the Stephanie Belli Whisperette Scholarship and the Schulman family provide yearly scholarships to students from their alma maters.  For the past two years I have wanted to sponsor an event in remembrance of our daughters, who have given so much in their short lifetime.  The purpose of the 5K Run/Walk is to increase awareness in our community regarding the safety issues of limousines.  Our top priority is to have more prudent regulations on the internal and external structure of limousines, as well as mandated comprehensive training programs.  Currently, there are no formal training programs for limousine drivers. 

      It is with great honor, for the Lawzie Marigold Foundation to sponsor our first Annual 5K “Running 4 Our Angels,” in remembrance of Lauren, Stephanie, Brittney and Amy.  This event will be held on Sunday, April 8th, 2018, at Smithtown High School West in Smithtown, New York.  All proceeds will be given to the Scholarship Funds that each family has set up and presented to the recipient of their choice.

     This course is a 5K walk/run, USATF certified and sanctioned, taking place in Smithtown.  There will be mile markers and water stations on the course, post-race refreshments, awards and more!
