_ The 2018 Cary Unity Walk & Fun Run:

The Cary Unity Walk is an event to celebrate citizens working together to support local first responders and create a safe, unified, and nurturing community for our youth and our future.  This event will also benefit two non-profit organizations that serve many needs in our community.

• The 200 Club of Wake County provides immediate financial help for the families of police officers, sheriff deputies, firefighters, EMS squad members, and North Carolina highway patrol serving in Wake County who lose their life in the line of duty.
• The North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics unites officers from law enforcement agencies and corrections departments across the state in an effort to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics North Carolina.

This event will kick off with a walk from Downtown Cary to WakeMed Soccer Park. Fit & Able will also stage a 5K and 10K race at WakeMed Soccer Park.

Information

Race Location: Downtown Cary and WakeMed Soccer Park.

Course Information: The Cary Unity Walk will start in Downtown Cary at the intersection of Chatham St. and Academy St. and proceed down Chatham St. to WakeMed Soccer Park. The Fun Run course will be on the trails of WakeMed Soccer Park.

Course & Festival Maps

Events: Everyone is welcome to participate!  All fun run participants will have chip-timed results that will be posted online.  All Fit & Able Productions, Inc. events are inclusion events: anyone of any age, skill-level, or ability can participate in any race! Dogs are not permitted to participate with runners in USA Track & Field sanctioned events. 

Athletic Trainer: An athletic trainer will be available at a medical tent located near the finish line.

Water Stations: There will be two water stations on the course: one at the 1 Mile mark and Finish line and one just after the 2 Mile mark.  Water is also available at the registration and refreshment area.  The water stations are marked on the map.

Packet Pick-up: All participants must show a photo ID or be with a guardian with a photo ID in order to pick up their race packets. Participants may only pick up their own race packet except for parents who may pickup their minor children's packets. Early packet pickup will be announced race week.

Volunteers: We need volunteers! Volunteers may sign up to help with any or all of these events:

• Cary Unity Walk - between Downtown Cary and WakeMed Soccer Park
• Festival - at WakeMed Soccer Park
• Fun Run - at WakeMed Soccer Park

Race Souvenirs: There are many shirt options. A few extra shirts will be ordered but to insure that you will get your preference – order now!  No orders will be taken after September 22nd.

Registration

Online registration closes on September 22nd at 9 PM.  Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted at packet pick-up and race day.

* Registered participants are welcome to bring their young kids in strollers but the kids must be registered and given a bib number.

Fit & Able Productions is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting community and family fitness in Cary since 1997 through organizing creative events and training programs.  We also support many programs, such as swim safety lessons for underprivileged children and adults, youth fitness programs, and health education run by our community partners including the Cary Family YMCA, Triangle Aquatic Center, and Town of Cary.  Proceeds from our events that aren't designated to support other organizations go to support the event and other Fit & Able nonprofit activities.
