Description

_ The 2018 Kingdom Run:

Kingdom Run (half marathon, 10K & 5K) combines a competitive athletic event with the old-fashioned hospitality and charm of a small town in rural Vermont.  Kingdom Run is an out & back race on scenic dirt roads in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.  5K & 10K walkers are welcome.  A complimentary munchies buffet is topped off with blueberry sundaes.  Prizes for winners in six age categories.

For more details about the race, go to our website at www.kingdomrun.org.

Kingdom Run is an independent fundraiser for the Northeast Kingdom Spay-Neuter Program.  All proceeds from this event are used to spay or neuter dogs and cats in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

Although Kingdom Run benefits dogs & cats, it is NOT a dog walk.  For the safety of all, dogs are not allowed in any of the running or walking categories.

Kingdom Run is a competitive, but friendly running event.

Kingdom Run is not part of the "Kingdom Games Series".

Event details and schedule

Kingdom Run is an out & back race on a well-maintained dirt road (pavement to get out of the village) with few houses and low vehicular traffic.  The race begins & ends on Irasburg Common.

Runners & walkers may opt for a 5k or 10k event.  Hills are small to moderate with gradual inclines; the increase in elevation being on the way out.

A Half Marathon event offers more challenging terrain for long-distance runners with three half-mile sections of incline (but no monster hills) at the 4-mile mark, the 5-mile mark and on the return home 7.5 mile mark.  Trees provide shade along much of the route.

Water stations are located at the 5k, 10k and half-marathon turn-around points as well as at the 5 (and 9) mile mark.

Registration opens at 7:15AM on Irasburg Common.

8:30AM: half marathon runners and all walkers start.

9:00AM: 5K & 10K runners start.

9:30AM: munchies buffet opens with blueberry sundaes served starting about 10:15

11:00AM: awards ceremony.  Prizes for winners in six age categories.

(The course will stay open until everyone finishes)

For the safety of all, no dogs are allowed in any of the running or walking events.
