_ The 2018 Color Me Pink 5K Fun Run/Walk:

Don’t miss your chance to participate in the PINKEST event in the state

COLOR ME PINK 5K FUN RUN/WALK!

Color Me Pink is a 5k event on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 9am, Worland High School Track (park in the middle school parking lot). No other event can compare to the Pink explosion you will experience! After you have been amply colored on the 3.0 mile (or nearly) course, you get blasted at the finale at the end of the run count down!

Color Me Pink is not a marathon or a contest... you don't even have to be a runner to participate! Color Me Pink is all about having a crazy, fun, Pink-splashed day with family and friends! Having the time at Color Me Pink will not only provide you with memories for a lifetime, but will make an impact and help save lives in the fight against breast cancer!
You’ll want your memories of Color Me Pink to last a lifetime, but if you want to save your hair, skin, and clothes... we have a few suggestions!

BEFORE the event...
•  Oily hair isn't usually a good thing, but for this event it is! putting coconut oil, olive oil, or leave-in conditioner in your hair will help the color from "sticking". This is REALLY beneficial if you have light-colored or highlighted hair.
•  If you don't want oily hair for the day, you can always wrap your hair in a thick bandana to save it. Some participants use the bandana to cover their mouth as they go through the Color Corral, or use the bandana to wipe color off their skin after the event.
•  We don't want you getting dried out or crispy... wear sunscreen and lip balm!
•  Not only do sunglasses make you look super cool during this event, but they also keep the color out of your eyes. It doesn't even have to be sunglasses... you can come in a snorkel or ski mask if you prefer!
•  The color will eventually wash out of almost everything you have on for the event, but you may not want to bring your high-dollar running stroller or expensive running shoes. Just in case...

AFTER the event...
•  GIVE YOURSELF A HAND! You just did the most pinkish 5k around AND helped save lives! You deserve some more fun...
•  Dust off as much of the dry powder before getting it wet. Almost all of the color can be blown off.
• When you get home, wash your hair like you normally would. It may take a couple of washes, but you can always strut your stuff with your new "highlights" for a few days.

•  The colored powder may leave some shading on your Color Me Pink shirt.. some people are okay with that, some aren't.
•  If you want to get as much color out as possible, remove all excess powder before getting it wet. Wash your Color Me Pink gear separately with COLD water. Products like oxiclean will do magic!

Color Me Pink FAQs

Do I have to be a super-fit runner to participate?

No way! From Couch Potato to Marathoners—EVERYONE can participate! This run is all about FUN! We want you to experience a crazy, colorful day with friends and family. Feel free to Run, Walk, Skip, or Crawl to the Finish Line!

What do I get when I register?

When you register (for the first 100 registered) you will get an official NEW Color Me Pink goodie bag with of course a bag of color to toss at the Finish Line…. (OH! And some other goodies like sunglasses, etc…. - it's part of your registration)

Where do my registration fees go?

Your registration fees and additional donations will go to save lives. 100% of all money raised (above our cost) from Color Me Pink will stay in our town to help local cancer warriors. You get to have the most colorful, fun day of your life and we get to save lives—It’s a Win-Win! (we're sorry, but we are unable to offer refunds for this event)

What time do I actually need to be there?

We all love to hit the snooze button on those early mornings... but on THIS early morning, you should be ready to hit the pavement and have the time of your life at 9am. We will be at the park at 8am to get the party started. After our crowds start really rolling in, we will start rounding you up. We will be sending you out in "waves". Starting at 9am, we will send the running crowd first and then the walkers will line up behind them. Have your family & friends hang out at the event and cheer you on…!

Can I bring my kids or a stroller?

Absolutely! Just be sure to register your child—and be prepared to have a colorful stroller!

Can I bring my Pet?

Sorry… No pets will be allowed at Color Me Pink

Where do I pick up my packet?

If you register before 100 others do, your packet can be picked up! We will be having an open house for registration and showing off our newest technology at Washakie Medical Center Mammography Department from 5-7pm Friday August 10th. If you are a bit of a procrastinator, you might be left without a goodie bag!

I can’t make it to Packet Pick Up… what do I do?

You can give someone your name, and they can pick it up for you. For the racers from out of town, you will be able to come a bit earlier on race day to grab your bags!

What do I wear?

To maximize your color experience, we suggest wearing as much white as possible… white shorts, white pants, white socks, white wigs, white tutus! It is also a good idea to wear something that shields your eyes and/or mouth from the color. Sunglasses (provided in goodie bag), bandanas, ski masks, snorkel masks—You get the idea.

What do I bring with me?

Definitely bring your packet that includes one color packet & your awesome sunglasses. Half way mark there will be a water stop to get a drink.

What is the color, and how does it get on me?

The color is a mix of pixie sticks and fairy dust. Just kidding… It is(gluten-free) food grade colored cornstarch. So it is completely safe and will not harm you OR the environment. We have lots of “color volunteers” who will be doing nothing but covering you with color as you run through color stations. Note: Also made in the USA!

Will my clothes and shoes be ruined?

The color washes out for the most part… but if you want your stuff to come clean, wash it soon after getting home. If you decide you LOVE the color, and want to keep it forever as a colorful memento, spray it with vinegar and iron it before you wash it. Another helpful tip: If you have light hair and don’t want it stained for a few days, apply a leave in conditioner or oil before the run to your hair.

My friends and family don’t want to participate—just watch. Can they come?

Sure they can come! They can hang out at the start/finish area!

What do I do with my camera/phone during the Color stations?

We suggest you put them in sealed plastic baggies. You can still use your touch screen phone through the baggy, it just keeps it safe from color.

What happens after the Run?

Once you hit the finish line, you will bring your own packet of color so that you can participate in the Finish Line Color Explosion. This is a chance for you to color yourself, color a friend, or even a stranger! You may want to bring a change of clothes and baby wipes to go anywhere else!
