Course Info

1. AlderDash Route Info

Participants can choose a long or short route. Its not a race (so bring your watch if you want to time yourself). IslandWood will coordinate the event so that runners and walkers are not competing for trail space. Final routes will include:

ISLAND TREK (2 routes): 6 or 13.1 miles
Go for a half marathon (13.1 miles) or choose 6 miles. The Island Trek starts on IslandWoods trails and then continues along quiet waterfront roads on south Bainbridge Island. The longer route follows the same beginning, then enters Fort Ward Park where walkers/runners will continue on the waterfront path and wooded trails, before heading back to IslandWood to pick up the campus trails again. Part of your experience may include crossing a 190-foot suspension bridge and then climbing 191 steps up a 115-foot forest canopy tower (optional).

ISLANDWOOD EXPLORATION: Half mile stroll to a 3-mile walk/run
Choose a slower pace or shorter distance on IslandWoods trails. Enjoy a half-mile stroll or 3-mile walk/run. Your IslandWood Exploration on our 255-acre campus is perfect for kids and families. IslandWoods ADA accessible trails can lead participants to our cattail marsh bird blind, one of two tree-houses, and on to our incredible floating classroom. Detours to the suspension bridge and canopy tower are encouraged.

Inspiration Stations
Along the walk/run routes, you will have the opportunity to pause at Inspiration Stations--brief educational stops that feature an interesting piece of information about our Puget Sound environment. Drinking water will be provided at each Inspiration Station. We ask that participants bring their own water bottles in order to reduce waste.

Route maps will be posted closer to the event. Please check back later this summer.

Its your choice and you can make up your mind (and change it) right on the spot, however we ask you to choose a route when you register so that we can plan accordingly. Thank you.

In the event that you need a little help, we will have staff and volunteers stationed along the routes. Parts of the shorter route can be accessed with an IslandWood cart (golf cart) and the longer route will be patrolled by our "Sweep Van to provide assistance when needed.
