2013 Oakland Streets 'n Ladders III:
Explore the architecture, scenery, parks, and landmarks of the Cleveland Heights and Ivy Hill neighborhoods along the Oakland Riviera of Lake Merritt.
Your team of 1 to 5 will search for remarkable checkpoints scattered over a custom-made map.
Upon finishing, enjoy fruit and snacks from terraloco.
Our host, Leaning Tower of Pizza, sells pizza and drinks as well, and you're welcome to stay for lunch.

Length: 5 km (any 3 pairs of checkpoints, 6 total) or 10 km (all 5 pairs of checkpoints, 10 total)
Gender Divisions: Women, Men, Mixed
Age Divisions: Junior, Open, Masters (average age 40+), Family (juniors and adults)
Travel Divisions: Foot, Bike
Team Size: 1 to 5
For last year's event, you could find the checkpoints in any order. This year, there's a twist called Dogbones. Checkpoints will be paired, and when you find one checkpoint, you have to find its partner next (you can start with either one in the pair.) Checkpoints can be recorded by using an electronic chip (if you own a SportIdent stick) or a digital camera or phone camera or by question and answer with a pencil.

From Interstate 580 coming from San Francisco: Exit 21B for Grand/Lakeshore Ave. At the first light, Grand, proceed straight through the intersection onto MacArthur Blvd. After one block, make a right onto Lakeshore Ave. At the second traffic light, make a left onto Brooklyn Ave., go a short block, and you'll see the Leaning Tower of Pizza by the corner.
From Interstate 580 coming from Hayward: Exit 22A for Lakeshore Ave. Make a left turn onto Lakeshore Ave. At the third traffic light, make a left onto Brooklyn Ave. go a short block, and you'll see the Leaning Tower of Pizza by the corner.
