Description

This open water swim (fixed buoy course) will honor one of America's finest. Aaron Vaughn, a member of DEVGRU (SEAL Team VI), was KIA on Aug. 6th, 2011 when a Chinook helicopter crashed in the Tangi River Valley of Afghanistan. All 30 American warriors on board lost their lives that day. This crash represented the single largest loss of life in Naval Special Warfare history.

The Annual Aaron Vaughn Memorial Frogman Swim is the primary fundraiser for Operation 300 Camp (extreme sports camp for children of fallen soldiers).

This will be a family-fun day. Events will be planned throughout the morning to entertain your children, including a 50 yard Tadpole Swim, so be sure to bring them along!

Course Info

Participants will swim 50m out to 1K buoy course (450m in length, 50m in depth). 1K swimmers will make 1 lap. 5K swimmers will make 5. The swim will move counter clockwise.

*Course subject to slight changes based on environmental conditions of the day.

200yd swimmers will swim out 50 yards, swim along shore 100 yards, then back in 50 yards.

Timing chips will be provided for all swimmers.

This event will have full cooperation from Martin County Fire Rescue, including its lifeguard staff and medical support. There will be kayak and jet ski or boat support on site as well.

Directions

From U.S. Hwy 1 in Jensen Beach, FL: take Jensen Beach Blvd to NE Indian River Drive (CR 707) Turn Lft on NE Indian River Drive Turn Rt on NE Causeway Blvd Enter Jensen Beach Park straight ahead and look for event signs.

All registrants will receive free breakfast, juice, coffee, and fruit as well as a free lunch for our awards celebration! The first 200 registrants will be guaranteed a sports bag full of goodies, including a specially designed, one-of-a-kind T-shirt from "Forged Clothing~ An American Brand" (A San Diego company founded by 2 Navy SEALs)

First Place (men and women) prizes will be awarded and will be significant to the theme of Naval Special Warfare Development Group (Team VI).
