Mark your calendars for Saturday,
October 5th, 2013 for The Run Above The Clouds in the beautiful
North Georgia mountains. Timed to coincide with the brilliant fall color and
the cool, crisp mountain air, The Run Above The Clouds may be Georgias most
scenic and invigorating race of the year.
The Run Above The Clouds is held as a
benefit for the students of Woody Gap School. The event is funded by
sponsorships, as well as registration fees from the runners. It is held on the
first full weekend in October, which coincides with the annual Indian Summer
Festival in Suches.
The Run Above The Clouds is a 10K road
race over a picturesque but challenging out and back course through the North
Georgia mountains. There is a companion 1-mile Fun Run which is a generally
flat route that takes runners beside beautiful Woody Lake.
The event start/finish line is across
from Woody Gap School on State Highway 60 in Suches Georgia, which is 16 miles
north of Dahlonega. Runners will meet at the Suches Community Center starting
at 7:30am on the day of the race for check-in and late registration. (There is
no penalty for late registration, but we encourage runners to print and mail
the pre-registration form found on the website.) The race starts promptly at
9am.
Each runner will receive a race T-shirt
(long sleeve Ts for the 10K and short sleeved Ts for the Fun Run). Awards for
the 10K are two-deep for male and female in each group with special awards
presented to overall top male and top female.
