Kick off your heels and loafers and grab your running shoes! The Waterloo Community Playhouse/Black Hawk Childrens Theatre will host the Spotlight Run 5K: Workin 9 to 5, its third annual, family-friendly run/walk, on Saturday, June 8, at 7:30am, in downtown Waterloo. The race will start at the corner of Mullan Avenue and Commercial Street.
The theme of the fundraiser ties into the Playhouses summer show, 9 to 5: The Musical, based on the 1980 Dolly Parton fan-favorite film 9 to 5.
The run/walk is open to all ages with awards given for overall fastest male and female; largest team/group; and the top three runners in these age groups: 11 and under, 12-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. Awards will also be given for best 9 to 5-themed costumes.
Everyone is encouraged to participate runners, walkers, rollers, and strollers. This race is about fun as much as it is about Run with activities for the whole family at the finish line in Lincoln Park.
Cost is $25 for pre-registration and $30 for race day registration, and includes a T-shirt while supplies last. Participants may pre-register online at www.wcpbhct.org. Race packets may be picked up on Friday, June 7, 11am to 7pm at the Walker Building, 224 Commercial Street, in Waterloo. Race day registration and packet-pickup begin at 6:30am also at the Walker Building.
