The Path The run will follow Highway 128 to the Highway 290 intersection in Garland County, where it will turn around and repeat its path to the Finish Line (also, located at the intersection of Highway 128 (Jack Mountain Road) and Highway 84 in Hot Springs County. Incline At its steepest the Jack Mountain Road path is a 13.1 grade incline. Elevation of 938 feet MSL. About Jack Mountain The Jack Mountain Unit in Hot Spring County Arkansas, was acquired by The Ross Foundation in 1993 from International Paper Company. With this unit positioned in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, The Ross Foundation had a unique opportunity to diversify its ownership. This southerly extension of the Ouachita Mountains consists of east-west ridges with moderately wide valleys. The forest of the north slopes and the ridges are mostly hardwood while the south slopes support mixed pine/hardwood stands. The gentle sloping valleys support excellent stands of loblolly and shortleaf pine. The Jack Mountain block is managed by Ross Foundation staff with expertise in forestry, wildlife management, botany and general land maintenance. The primary goal of the management activities is to maintain a healthy and productive forest. Careful consideration is given to factors such as maintaining wildlife habitat, forest diversity, and maintaining habitat for rare and threatened plant species.
