Salmon River 5.5 Mile Run ~ Results

• Salmon River 5.5 Mile Run:- Run 5 Miles

• Parking and day of race registration at Salmon River Picnic Shelter (Fireman's Grounds) adjacent to Salmon River State Park on Route 16.
• Start of 5.5 mile race at Comstock Covered Bridge across the street  (rt 16) from Registration area.

• The USATF certified 5.41 mile course (CT08007JHP) offers varied terrain beginning in front of the historic Comstock Covered Bridge at the Colchester/East Hampton town line.
• The first paved mile follows Comstock Bridge Road northeast at a moderate incline.
• Then the course bears right onto the seasonal and scenic River Road where approximately 1.5 miles are run on gravel surface and runners are treated to lovely views of the Salmon River and the many fly fishermen drawn to its banks at this time of year.
• At about 2.5 miles, the course passes under an old brownstone railroad trestle then veers sharply left onto the historic Airline Trail for a couple of flat and scenic miles on improved trail bed.
• Just past the 4 mile mark, another sharp left loops runners back onto pavement for a long, fast, and mostly downhill stretch on Bull Hill Road and back to the finish at the Comstock Covered Bridge.

• The race starts and finishes at the Comstock Covered Bridge at the corner of Comstock Bridge Road and Route 16 on the Colchester/East Hampton town line.
  
  From Route 2:
• Route 2 to Colchester.
• Take exit 18 (route 16).
• Turn left onto route 16
• Just over 5 miles (when you cross over Salmon River), Covered Bridge (race start) will be on your right. (registration will be on your left at firemans grounds)
  
  From Rt 66:
• Follow Rt 66 to Portland.
• Look for Rt 16 (close to portland/middletown bridge)
• Stay on rt 16 through portland, colbolt & east hampton.
• Salmon river is at bottom of long hill on rt 16. Watch for covered bridge on left at colchester line (salmon river). (race start on left - turn right for registration & parking)
• Parking & registration will be on right at firemans grounds.
