Description
The Run For Freedom 5K, 10K, & 2mi Walk, presented by Beacon Credit Union, is a family-oriented event in honor of our nation's military, veterans, and fallen soldiers. Now in its 7th year, this well-organized, awesome event has grown every year (over 1,000 participants in 2013!). It's the only running event in the State of Indiana that provides FREE registration to all active duty, reserve, national guard, and veterans courtesy of Bosley & Bratch (veterans law firm). The 5K & 10K are USATF distance certified, chip-timed, closed to traffic, TECH RACE SHIRTS, UNIQUE PATRIOTIC FINISHER MEDALS, and FREE post-race picnic. All proceeds benefit the Indiana Freedom Memorial Foundation.
Course Info
The run is an action-packed, scenic, out-and-back course with a few small hills but mostly flat and fast...ok, sometimes flat and fast but a fun challenge for both first-timers and speedsters. The course is USATF distance certified and electronic chip timing will be provided by The End Result Company. The run course will be shut down to all vehicular traffic making for a safe, fun, enjoyable event. There are water stations along the course with mile markers and pace timers. There will also be Gatorade, water, and energy foods after the race. Participants will enjoy a truly unique and exhilarating experience by running past our Ride For Freedom motorcycle rally with over 100 bikers revving their engines to salute your efforts while you pass under the Marion Fire Departments HUGE American Flag. Very inspiring! A FREE post-race picnic with plenty of food and drinks awaits each participant at the finish during the post-race awards ceremony.
