This year for the first time AIDS Walk Orange County will feature the Red Ribbon 5k Fun Run to bring runners to our historic community charity event.

The Red Ribbon 5k Fun Run is an untimed, non-competitive, all inclusive running event for runners of all fitness levels. The main requirement is that you have heart and want to unite with other runners in the fight to end AIDS in Orange County!

All proceeds of this run goes to HIV/AIDS prevention and support programs in our community.

The Red Ribbon 5k Fun Run is less about your speed and performance and more about health, compassion and community! The 5k route winds through the newly developed green spaces at the Orange County Great Park and will feature water stations, entertainment, cheering and cookies at the finish line! There will be prizes for the top 3 most outrageous costumes! The half mile route markers will be made by children who are directly, personally impacted by HIV/AIDS and who attend AIDS Services Foundations Kids Club. These markers will serve as a reminder about why this 5k is so important.

After the run, all runners will receive their Ribbon of Honor and then stay and join in all the fun of the AIDS Walk Festival with live music, youth DJ, food and drink, carnival booths, art, AIDS Memorial Quilt and tent and the very first Human Red Ribbon Project that will be presented by hundreds of Orange County high school students.

Participant Registration: All participants will register on-line on the AIDS Walk Website. Registration fee is $25 per participant and everyone is encouraged to fund-raise. Runners may also register in person at the Great Park on the day of the event.

Day of event check-in will open at 7am.

Run Start Time: at 7.45am there will be a brief opening stage program. The runners will commence at 8am sharp. Runners will be out on the route between 8am 9am. The water stations and cheerers will be in place for the Run.

Incentives: Fund raising incentives for runners will be the same as walker incentives.

Teams: Individuals can set up teams for the run in the same way as one would for the Walk. Individuals may sign up on a team as either a walker or a runner.

The program and festival attractions include live bands and youth DJ, food vendors, carnival booths, art exhibits, merchandise sales, community dance and choral performances and the Best of OC Business Showcase Silent Auction. This year, for the first time, the event will include a Human Red Ribbon Project which will bring together hundreds of Orange County students aged 12 18 years to form the largest human red ribbon Orange County has ever seen to raise HIV/AIDS awareness in our community.
