Description

2012 sisters had an idea. “Let’s get a run in early Thanksgiving morning and be ready for the day!” Word spread and we had a “race”! We were a zero profit (for fun) gathering of friends and family, therefore, we began the most fun tradition last year of making our own “Gallop for Gravy” T-shirts! Can you say puffy paint and feathers? (See amazing pictures on Facebook) This was so much fun! And a lot of laughs. Join us in making your own T-shirt if you wish! This was how “Gallop for Gravy” was born! We enjoyed a great route, good exercise to get us ready for Thanksgiving and had a blast! This year, we wanted to do it again, this time, for charity! 2013, Last year we had 140 participants!!! We are touched that you’re going to Gallop with us! ----------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------ Pre-race: Race instructions will be given briefly before START! If you have any questions prior email [email protected] or call 870-688-8251 or 870-715-5022 Packet Pick Up – Please provide an email address to communicate packet pickup if you wish to pick up prior to race day. WE will offer a packet pickup time at Nature’s Wonder’s in Harrison. Otherwise your packet will be available at 7:00 a.m. Race morning. “Sleep In’s” please email for packet delivery. If you registered by Nov 8th You will receive a T-shirt. All receive a race bib number. ? The “Gravy”: Race begins at the Alpena City Park. Right off Hwy 62 drive behind the post office. Please be there by 7:30 if at all possible. The race will begin sharply at 8:00 a.m. November 28, 2013 Thanksgiving morning! We begin with 2 loops in the park! We will line up according to pace with quickest pace and allow runners/joggers a 10 minute start to give safety separation from walkers. The course will be clearly marked. You will only need to follow the arrows. We are excited to be able to provide chip timing this year!! This is not a flat course. It’s a challenge if you choose to run it all! Go YOU! Walkers don’t be intimidated, just providing the “gravy” on the course. We will conquer one steady hill (Alpena School Hill) but we will also enjoy some downhill action too! We have the opportunity to run along chainsaw art and historic 100 year old buildings along Hwy 62 toward the end of the 5K. Though, we will have police support PLEASE don’t enter the highway. Thanks. ? We will have awards for our winners!! Award ceremony will occur as soon as all our turkeys have made it back to the finish! The route takes you back to the park for a final lap to wrap up 3.10 miles! You rock! Our award categories will be determined based on our participant pool. Everyone will be awarded with after race refreshment. We really appreciate you celebrating Thanksgiving, health, friends and fun on Thanksgiving morning!
