Forever Young Memorial 5K

The Forever Young Memorial 5K/1M is an annual event held  in memory of Lindsay Nichols and Kelsey Lee.  Both girls were graduates of Waterloo East High School Class of 2008, and both girls lives were cut way too short.  Lindsay was a domestic violence homicide victim in March 2012.  Kelsey passed away December 2011 after a seven year battle with cancer.

The first event was held September 22, 2012 and it was a success!  We had an overwhelming response from business and community members, and we had over 300 participants in the race.  The successful race allowed us to start the Forever Young Memorial Scholarship Fund.  As of this writing in May 2015, we have awarded six ~ $1,000 scholarships to high school students seeking post secondary education in a health science field.

The Fourth Annual event is planned for Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 9am in Evansdale Iowa.  The race committee hopes for a bigger and better event.

The 5K will utilize the Angels Trail around Meyer’s Lake and also the Cedar Valley Bike Trail along with city streets.  There will be Food and drink provided after the event, along with door prize drawings and a kids fun dash!
