The Get Fit Selma! 2015 5k Run and Community Fun Run/Walk are dedicated to the health and wellness of th epeople of Selma, Alabama and the surrounding Black-Belt area. The 5K Run starts at 8:00 am, opening a half-day of health & fitness activities. The 5K Run and other running and walking events start in front of the gymnasium at Wallace Community College Selma. Look for the Start Gate and the registration table.
The goal of Get Fit Selma! Health & Fitness Festival is to deliver a quality product that will provide preventative health screenings and resources to the citizens of Selma and Dallas County, thus improving outcomes in the critical areas of disease: hypertension, Type II Diabetes and obesity and other conditions as well as influencing residents to engage at a greater level in healthy eating and physical fitness activities.
The 5K Race starts on Donitha Griffin Drive in front of the Wallace Community College Gymnasium. It takes Earl Goodwin Parkway south to the first Selma Mall entrance (approx. 1 mile), circles light pole #13 and proceeds back to Earl Goodwin Park, through subdivisions on the east side of Earl Goodwin Parkway and back to WCCS for the finish line.
The Community Fun Run/Walk takes a 1-mile tour through the Wallace campus and the Tot Trot is set up to the west of the Start line.
Wallace Community College Selma is located at 3000 Earl Goodwin Parkway in Selma, Alabama. The campus is north of the city between the US Hwy 80 Bypass and State Hwy 14.
Awards
Prizes will be awarded for 1st overall M/F and 1st Master M/F and then by age group in five-year increments starting with age 14 under up to 70+.
Bonus Prize
There is a Bonus Prize of $100 each for male and female winners of the 5K who set a course record in men's or women's divisions.
