Description

As part of Kennedy Center Autism Week 2015, we proudly ask everyone to Join us for The Autism SpectRUN, a 5K COLOR Fun Run/Walk/Stroll!

Come dressed in as many colors as you can; be creative from your head to your toes! Prizes will be given for Most Colors Worn and Most Unique!

Children (12 and under) can register to participate in a 100 YD DASH for some great prizes and giveaways. Children 5 and under can run FREE with parent.

The SpectRUN is not a timed race, so EVERYONE who finishes the 5k will get a prize!

And what's a RACE without an ending CELEBRATION? Join us for live music, food trucks and lots of fun children's activities!

Course Info

There will be a 5k run, a 5k walk and a special 100-Yard Dash for children! The 5k trail is in the park and does not venture onto public roads.

Directions

From Interstate 95/Merritt Parkway

Take Exit 27A on I-95 or Exit 49N on the Merritt Parkway, the connector "RT. 25" North towards Danbury. At the end of the connector there is a traffic light at the intersection of Rt.25 and Rt. 111. Continue through the intersection on Rt. 25 for another 1.6 miles (also known as Main Street or Old Newtown Tpk.) to the next traffic light, just past the Dutchess Restaurant on your right. Take a right turn at this traffic light on Purdy Hill Rd.  After turning on to Purdy Hill Rd. and traveling .2 of a mile, the road will split to a "Y"; bear right and continue on Purdy Hill Road. Travel another .4 of a mile to Doc Silverstone Rd. on your left, this is the entrance to Great Hollow Pond. 

From Eastbound Rt. 84 & Rt. 59

From Rt. 84 take Exits 8,9, or 10 on to Rt. 25 South past the Sand Hill Shopping Center (Stop & Shop in Newtown), and continue past the Clock Tower Square Shopping Center (this is the intersection of Rt. 59). If you are on Rt. 59 heading east, you now make a right turn heading South on Rt. 25. Travel another 1.4 miles South to the intersection of Judd Road on your right and Purdy Hill Road on your left (Miner's Funeral Home is on your right). Make a left here on to Purdy Hill Road. After turning on to Purdy Hill Rd. and traveling .2 of a mile, the road will split to a "Y"; bear right and continue on Purdy Hill Road. Travel another .4 of a mile to Doc Silverstone Rd. on your left, this is the entrance to Great Hollow Pond. 

From Westbound Interstate 84 & Rt. 34 (Sandy Hook)

Take Exit 11 for Rt. 34 South towards Monroe & Derby. Continue South until the intersection of RT. 111 and make a right. Continue approx. 6 miles through blinking yellow caution light and several traffic lights until Purdy Hill Road. The US Post Office will be on your left. Make a right turn and continue 1.5 miles to Doc Silverstone Rd. on your right, this is the entrance to Great Hollow Pond.

Sign-up by August 10 for the Early Bird Price of $25/Adult and $10/Child

You can still get a deal from August 11 - August 31 of $30/Adult and $15/Child - after that prices increase to $35/Adult and $20/Child. 

There is a Special Student Price of $25, but you must bring Student ID to show at registration. Every pre-registered participant will receive an official SpectRUN T-shirt that day. Children 5 and under can run free with parent. Please Note that Registration Fees are waived if you set up a personal fundraiser page with a minimum of $50 in donations.

By participating in The Autism SpectRUN, your dollars will allow The Autism Project to not only continue to provide comprehensive affordable program services, but will also help meet the growing demand for these services in our community.  100% of the proceeds benefits The Autism Project.
