Description

The 6th Annual RUN FOR IKE is held in the memory of Palm Springs Police Department K-9 Officer Ike who was killed in the line of duty in 2011. All finishers will receive a special IKE dog tag finisher medal! Tech t-shirts, FREE photo downloads, pancake breakfast - all included in registration fee. K-9 demos, pet adoption, first responder vehicle display, police department open house and BBQ all follow the 5K run/walk. This event is held annually with all proceeds supporting the Palm Springs Police Department K-9 Fund.


The Course
This is a fast and flat out and back course in beautiful Palm Springs. It is runner, walker, stroller and doggie friendly.
Goodies Galore!
Your $35 entry fee gets you registered into the event, an event t-shirt, a great finisher's dog tag, a pancake breakfast and souvenir photo! And the first 250 that register receive an adorable 16" plush Ike Jr. doggie of their very own!
T-shirts
T-shirts will be given to all paid event entrants. This is a high quality tech T-shirt.
Packet Pick-Up
Early packet pick-up will be held at RUNNING WILD 611 S. Palm Canyon on Friday, April 3rd from 10AM-5PM. You will receive your bib, t-shirt, goodie bag and Ike plush (for those eligible) at that time. Late packet pick-up will be held race morning beginning at 6:30 at the race site: 200 S. Civic Palm Springs 92262
Awards
ALL race finishers will receive a dog tag finisher medal. Division awards will be given 3-deep in 5 year age groups. Over-all men and women 1st, 2nd and 3rd trophies will be given. A special IKE TEAM TROPHY will be awarded to the police department team with the greatest number of finishers. GO BIG TEAM TROPHY will be given to the biggest non-police group entered.
Post Race Happenings
Come for the race and stay for the fun--in addition to a delicious pancake breakfast presented by our local Palm Springs Lions Club, we will have a safety fair with many great events and displays...We will have K-9 DEMONSTRATIONS, SWAT TEAM AND VEHICLES, FREE CHILDREN FINGERPRINTING, A PET ADOPTION, MANY LOCAL SAFETY TEAMS and MORE!!! Also, meet ROCKY from P.S. Power Baseball and the CHP's Chipper! Lots of fun for the entire family is in store at this always popular event! We will also have many raffle prizes to give away on race day and some extra surprises, too! Police Department OPEN HOUSE and BBQ held later that day! Race participants and their guests are invited to attend!!!
Timing
Racewire (Prime Time) will chip time this event providing accurate timing and instant results!
Parking
Parking is available nearby at city hall, county office parking lots and across Tahquitz in local neighborhoods. Handicapped parking will be available at the race site.

Souvenir Photo
Every registered racer will receive an event finisher photo download and a posed picture next to a K-9 vehicle!
Virtual Racer
Going to be out of town on race day or do you live in another state or country? Well, don't let a little detail like that stop you! Become a virtual racer. We will mail you your race bib, event t-shirt, finisher dog tag and 16" Ike plush (to the first 250 to register) and on any date between March 15 - April 15, head out and run/walk 5K. Submit your results (you are on the honor system) and you may be eligible for an age group award, too! Take a photo and we will post it on our website!
Ike Jr. Dash (Kids 10 and Under)
Kids 10 and under may participate in the Jr. Ike Dash sponsored by BEN & JERRY'S AT THE RIVER. Entry fee is $5.00 and may be paid on race day or in advance. Participants receive an awesome Ike Jr. t-shirt, Ike Jr. Police Badge a cool hat and some special finish line surprises!
