_ 2015 Fairfield County Heart Walk & 5K Run | American Heart Association
The Heart Walk and Run is the American Heart Association's groundbreaking movement to get America walking. The Fairfield County 5k Run and Heart Walk is the cornerstone of the movement which calls on all Americans and their employers to create a culture of physical activity and wellness so that we may all live longer.
- Why: Physical inactivity significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, our nation's No. 1 killer. Seventy percent of Americans do not get enough exercise, blaming lack of time and lack of motivation. Ignoring fitness and health increase's an individual's risk of heart disease, stroke and other diseases.
- What: The Fairfield County 5k Run and Heart Walk gets people to increase their physical activity and to raise funds to support lifesaving research for cardiovascular disease and stroke. Last year, nearly 1,000 walkers and volunteers participated in teh Fairfield County Heart Walk.
- When: Sunday October 25, 2015 (Registration 8:30 AM; Run and Walk Starts: 10:00 AM)
- Goals: Raise $35,00 while increasing awareness of the importance of physical activity.
