2015 Skinny Turkey 5k & 10k - Guntersville

• Skinny Turkey 10k:- Run 6.2 Miles

 - Are you looking for a great way to burn off a little of the Thanksgiving feast? This race is the Saturday following Thanksgiving and will provide all runners a great post feast workout. And, if you have family in from out of town it will give you a great reason to get out of the house. As always, we will be providing a great race shirt and goodie bag? We invite you to race along Lake Guntersville on November 28, 2015. This 5th year event offers both a 5k and 10k run. Did we mention there will be fresh homemade fried fruit pies for all finishers? Come have some fun!!! The 5k and 10k courses each start in front of the Guntersville Rec Center on Sunset Drive. The 5k and 10k starting lines are about 300 feet apart. 5k and 10k runners will follow Sunset Drive to the water treatment facility (1.4 miles) where they will leave the road and enter the paved running trail. An aid station is set up at this location. 5k and 10k runners will follow the paved trail and run back towards the Rec Center. Guntersville Lake will be on your left and will provide fantastic views along the trail. At about 2.7 miles, runners will pass a paved parking lot and permanent bathrooms which will be on their right. There will be an aid station at this location. 5k runners will leave the paved trail by running right through the paved parking lot. Once through the parking lot, 5k runners will turn left on Sunset Drive and will return to the Rec Center to the finish line in front of the Rec Center. 10k runners will remain on the paved trail running towards the Rec Center as the 5k runners leave the paved trail. 10k runners will complete an additional full loop on the paved trail and when they return they too will leave the paved trail at the same place as the 5k runners. The 10k runners will follow the same route as the 5k runners to the finishline.
