Every child needs a hero but abused children need superheroes. Will you make a difference in the life of an abused or neglected child today?
The Guardian ad Litem Foundation of Tampa Bay cordially invites you to participate in the 1st annual SuperHero 5K Run, Walk and Stroller Roll. This event will raise community awareness of the 3,000 children in Pinellas and Pasco Counties who have been removed from their homes by no fault of their own. We will also use money raised to make a difference in the lives of children in foster care here in our local community. Our mission is to provide advocacy and support for abused and neglected children in the Guardian ad Litem Program of Pinellas and Pasco Counties. Our goal is simple-that every child will have a Guardian ad Litem volunteer to help them navigate the turbulent waters of the dependency system. Guardian ad Litem volunteers are the voice of the child in court and the child’s best interest is their only interest. There are over 1,000 children that currently do not have a Guardian ad Litem volunteer to safeguard them or advocate for their needs. Not everyone has the time or the heart to be a Guardian ad Litem volunteer but YOU too can be a SUPERHERO in the life of a child just by becoming a Sponsor of our upcoming race. Your support helps us achieve our vision of a world where every child has a safe and permanent home with the opportunity to thrive.
The event will be held on Saturday, September 26, at War Veteran’s Memorial Park, 9600 Bay Pines Boulevard, St. Petersburg. We will kick off at 7:00 a.m. with the 5k Run and will also have a 1 mile fun run for children. Awards will be given for top qualifiers of the 5K Run and all participants will receive a medal.
The race includes on- and off-road paths, extensive tree canopies, relics honoring heroes of Pinellas County (fallen service members), and portions of the course will overlook beautiful Boca Ciega Bay.
