Description

This will be our 3rd annual Jingle all the way 5K.  This benefit race began in 2013 when a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Cedartown Georgia passed away as a result of an automobile accident.  She left behind a loving husband and two children.  We wanted to help make their Christmas bright so Kenny and Kelly Camp, The youth minister and his wife of Antioch Baptist and myself decided to organize a 5K to help provide financial relief during a difficult time in their lives.  The race was a huge success and we decided to once again organize the race.  Last year, the funds from the race were donated to ministry in our home town that provides housing for displaced children.

This year our race will be honoring and donating to a very special family in our hometown of Polk County, Georgia. Halli Reanne Yarbrough and her parents Tim and Tracy will be the recipients of this years donation.

Halli is the happiest, most carefree, loving child you could ever ask for. Halli is the light of her family’s life and her brother’s pride and joy. Halli has the ability to make everyone she comes in contact with instantly fall in love with her great personality and bring a smile to their face. She was born on February 12, 1999 with Down Syndrome.

To this day she has been diagnosed with heart disease (VSD - a small hole in her heart), hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, elevated lipids, and hypertension. She has had more health issues and doctor appointments in her short life than any child should ever have to deal with but she has never complained or let it get her down. She only thinks of making others’ lives brighter.

In May of 2014 Halli was admitted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. After several blood tests and an MRI/MRA, Dr. Weisman discovered signs of a stroke due to the narrowing of blood vessels in her brain. On May 13, 2015 Halli had a seizure at school and was taken back to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. More blood tests and MRI/MRA’s were performed.

Neurologist, Dr. Philbrooks, discovered from the tests that Halli has a brain disease called Moyamoya. This disease causes constriction of the arteries in the brain, reducing blood flow. The effects of Moyamoya include, but are not limited to, seizures, strokes (TIA), muscular weakness or paralysis that affects one side of the body, speech deficits, sensory and cognitive impairments, disturbed consciousness, and, if left untreated, death. The lifesaving treatment she requires is revascularization to restore blood flow to certain areas of her brain. Without treatment, seizures, strokes, and other symptoms will continue and eventually end in fatality. Without revascularization surgery, Moyamoya will end her life.

Halli's surgery was completed on September, 17th of this year.  We want to continue to show the Yarbrough family that our community continues to support them.  Please come out and run, jog, walk, or crawl with us if necessary on December the 5th 2015 at Antioch Baptist Church in Cedartown, GA. 30125.  Let's help continue to support this family.
