2016 Eye of the Dragon 10K & Tail of the Lizard 2 Mile:

• This is the 28th Annual Eye of the Dragon 10K. Local running lore tells of a giant evil dragon that kept the community in a tight grip of fear. The legend also tells of a dragon slayer and a small benevolent dragon he had befriended who came and waged a heroic battle against the evil dragon. Armed only with a fire-proof warm-up suit and a magical pair of running shoes which could turn the dragon into stone, they chased the evil dragon for miles. Sensing defeat, the evil dragon attempted to cross the Indian River but was turned to stone as the dragon slayer ran across its back. The evil dragon is still there today in the form of the Eau Gallie Causeway and continues to remain a foe to local runners.

Course Info

• The first half of the 10K goes out and back along the beautiful Indian Rives, and passes many lovely old Florida homes. 

• The second half is out and back over the Eau Gallie Causeway, where the climb is well worth the spectauclar view of blue water and lush islands.

• Take SR 518 east
• Cross US 1
•  Turn left after 3 blocks.

From US-1
• Go north or south to SR 518
• Head east 3 blocks.
