Description

The San Francisco Marathon is a loop course, taking runners on a journey around the city, hitting gorgeous locales and iconic landmarks all along the way. Starting at the world famous Ferry Building, racers head along the Embarcadero, with the beautiful San Francisco bay on their right. From there they pass through Fisherman’s Wharf and through the Marina. Next runners head up and back across the Golden Gate Bridge and down through the Presidio, along the Pacific Ocean. A tour of the beautiful Golden Gate Park follows, and after some turns and curves through the trees and around the lakes, runners empty out onto the historic and very colorful Haight street. The course takes some loops through the Mission, Potrero, and Mission Bay Districts, heads by numerous charming little parks, then heads up towards AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. And then it’s just a home stretch, under the fancy new Bay Bridge and back up to the Ferry Building. The course is USATF certified and is a Boston Marathon qualifying race.

The 1st Half Marathon covers the first half of The San Francisco Marathon. The race starts on the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building, traversing San Francisco. The 1st Half Marathon runs through Fisherman’s Wharf, the Marina, across the roadbed of the Golden Gate Bridge, through the Presidio and finishes in Golden Gate Park. The course is USATF certified.

The 2nd Half Marathon covers the second half of The San Francisco Marathon. The race starts at Spreckel’s Lake in Golden Gate Park and finishes on the Embarcadero alongside the Main Marathon Finish Line. It passes through Haight/Ashbury, the Mission District, into Mission Bay, and passes AT&T Park, finishing just before the Ferry Building alongside the Main Marathon Finish Line. The course is USATF certified.

The 5K race is flat, fast and runs a loop on the Embarcadero along the beautiful San Francisco Bay. The start is just south of the Historic Ferry Building. The course heads south from the start with views of the Bay, Treasure Island and the Bay Bridge. At the base of the Bay Bridge the course loops around and heads north with sights to see like the top of the Transamerica Building and Coit Tower nestled on top of the San Francisco hills. The course continues north just until you hit the edge of Fisherman’s Wharf where runners will turn back around and head for the finish line located just north of the Ferry Building.
