Description

This event is a regional favorite! When you participate you'll discover the spectacular course and the wonderful volunteers/community support. Held in the gorgeous autumn season, the 6th annual Run for the Rocks Half-marathon, on Sept. 25, 2016, is perfect for those who have set a goal to run or walk their first 13.1-miler as well as seasoned pros. We feature a fast and flat certified course as well as professional chip timing. Our race starts in Carey Park and goes along most of the Jim Martinez Trail. The route then winds throughout the beautiful neighborhoods of Whispering Meadows, Old Farm Estates and Countryside before hopping onto the section of trail on the northeast end of Hutchinson. It is a race-worthy finish on the track at Gowans Stadium, where spectators will be cheering you to the finish line. Participants will receive quality tech-shirts, and all those who cross the finish line will receive finisher medals, as well as complimentary food, drink, and massage/chiropractic services from area businesses. Proceeds from this event go to Hutchinson Recreation Commission and the Boys and Girls Club of Hutchinson as both organizations work to provide quality-of-life services for the youth in our community. Same day packet pick-up and onsite registration will be in the parking lot of McQueen Baseball Fields on the east end of Carey Park. Participants begin their 13.1 journey at 7:30 a.m. in Hutchinson's Carey Park. For those walking the entire distance, you have the option of beginning at 7 a.m. The actual starting line is a short walk from the registration site down Emerson Loop. Please note, we encourage you to park you car at the finish line (Gowans Stadium) and use our provided shuttle to the start line (Carey Park).
