Come out to Warren County, Virginia (an hour west of the DC metropolitan area) for the Shenandoah Valley's most scenic road race! The 18th running of the Greasy-Gooney 10K will take place on Saturday 22 October 2016 in Browntown, about eight miles south of Front Royal. Held at the peak of the fall foliage season, the challenging 6.2 mile race loops through the foothills of the Blue Ridge, treating runners to gorgeous views of the mountains and countryside. It's a course you won't soon forget!
Entry fees
2016 entry fees to be announced. (Last year's fees were $17 early or $22 on race day including the race premium [an embroidered beanie] or just $10 early or $15 on race day without the premium, with a $2 discount for members of the Shenandoah Valley Runners or a $1 discount for members of most DC/Baltimore area running clubs.)

7:45 AM - Race day registration and check-in begins

9:00 AM - 10K start
10:20 AM - Approximate start of awards ceremony
Important note
The starting line is 0.8 miles west of Browntown on Route 613. Please make sure you arrive in Browntown by 8:45 AM so that you'll have time to walk or jog to the start!
Awards
Trophies will be given to the top three males and females overall, as well as to the top three in the following age groups: 19 & under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 & over. We'll also be handing out a number of cheap random prizes for no reason.

The fine print
This is a small, low-key event without many volunteers or resources. The course will be open to vehicular traffic, so participants will need to pay extra attention. For safety/insurance reasons, participants may not run the race with personal listening devices (i.e. headphones, iPods, etc.), baby joggers/strollers, or dogs; violators will be disqualified. On-site medical assistance will not be available. Entry fees are non-refundable; entries are non-transferable.
