The Run for the River has the same focus as all of our races: good, friendly, and fun competition - but this one tries to make some cash for the Friends of the Rappahannock (a local river stewardship organization). Thanks to the concerted effort of River Rock Outfitters, Spencer -Devon Brewing Company, the ACA, the VOC, Design 837, and FredEvents, the race is part of the second annual Rock The River community festival. The race has a NEW START TIME - 10:30 AM. The festival will offer beer tastings, food, and music, and you will finish RIGHT in the middle of all the fun. All preregistered racers will receive a free T-shirt.
Competitors will all run or walk 4 miles on our local Canal path and Heritage trail (paved). We use calibrated cycling computers to measure the course. The course will lead you along the river and our canal for most of race (so if you feel that you can look up for a second, take in the view) and will finish where it started - in Old Mill Park. There is enough parking for approximately 150 cars - if you are local, run or walk on down! Race Timing Unlimited will conduct the timing for the event this year.
Go to www.fredevents.org for a course map and other details.
