The 10th annual Spring Backyard Burn is a series of 5 and 10 mile trail running races held on some of the best trail networks in the Northern Virginia Area. All the courses include a mixture of forested fire roads, twisty hiking trails, several stream crossings, grassy fields, and minimal pavement. A point system adding competitor's six-race point totals will be used to determine the top finishers within each age group.

Courses:

All the courses consist of a mixture of forested fire roads, twisty hiking trails, stream crossings, grassy fields, and minimal pavement. Fountainhead and Hemlock have a true wilderness feel yet are just 30 minutes from DC. Wakefield and Laurel Hill have some great trails and are both conveniently located off major highways. Lake Fairfax is very popular and offers a super fun run in a suburban park. Riverbend is a new addition with awesome trails right on the Potomac River.

Awards:

The top five male and female finishers in each age group will receive awards. Series awards and prizes will also be presented at the final race to the top five male and female racers in each age group with the most series points.

Entry Fee Includes:

Fun and challenging course design, limited race entry (300-450 depending on park), professional race operations, wonderful volunteer support, aid stations (stocked with water and gatorade), medical support, chip timing, accurate results, timely posting of results on the EX2 website, plentiful post-race food, electric atmosphere, great music, awards, and colorful t-shirts (one/person for the series).

T-shirts: 

High-quality Zorrel Z100 t-shirts for men and Next Level ‘boyfriend’ (slim fit) t-shirts for women are distributed at the Fall Backyard Burn Trail Running Series. Any racer may order either the men’s tee or the women’s tee. All racers that register at least 10 days before the event are guaranteed a t-shirt in their specified size.
