This race is sited at beautiful Pokagon State Park, just off 1-69 and the 80/90 Toll Road. In its 10th year, the course has become a favorite first-spring triathlon.
Whether you live close by or are traveling, the area is perfect for a weekend away, with lodging available in and just outside the park, several excellent lake-side restaurants, and nearby attractions including the Amish communities, shopping and museums just west in Shipshewana, the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum just south on I-69 in Aburn, historic Angola with its classic movie theatre and beautiful lake and bike country throughout the area.
The Sprint race starts at 9 a.m., followed by the Olympic distance athletes at 9:10 and the 5K Trail Run at 9:30 a.m. The lake swim is 750 meters straight out (one lap for Sprint and 2 laps for the Olympic). The Bike course is along country roads in Steuben County (20k for Sprint and 40k for Olympic). The run is mostly trails.
